Typically, the President wasn’t wearing a mask as she lined up her executive at the Sunrise Annual General Meeting and Trumplike air-punched a hallelujah for all she had achieved through a mildly taxing Toastmaster year. Carol Coleman gave her President’s Report in this penultimate week before passing the reins to the formidable Gemma Woods who will have the new exec broken in and saddled up before anyone can say ‘but I only came in here for a trim.’ Yes, the new Exec looks slightly like the old exec, but averages a much younger demographic having dispensed some old wood whose names we won't mention - but lest we forget, Jill Forgie - (A secretary not to be taken lightly - one who finished each meetings minutes and dispensed them before participants even left the premises) and Chris Jones (VP Public Relations, who like all in such roles managed to do very little and reaped many benefits, often of a canape and pinot variety) Johanna King and Jordan Fraser are doomed to take over those vacant roles mentioned. Robyn Johnson has managed to maintain a place on the executive by burrowing her way into a position that never previously existed, that of VP Education Half-breed. Robyn who fulfilled her role this last year as Past President has stepped up to assist Eleanor who is focusing her VP Education role on the specifics of individual development, while Robyn will focus on competitions and rosters. George Taylor, with many years of executive service in Toastmasters will continue as Sergeant at Arms, optimistically hoping that he may one day get something better than a pocket knife to equip his armoury. With minimum torture, Victor Gamperle volunteered to continue as VP Membership, while Grant Rae was easily coerced to remain Treasurer with the promise of at least another $40 profit for the club at the end of the next financial year. Carol Coleman will enter the executive in her Past-Presidential role, where her hand will guide smooth runnings, her heart, cherry happenings and her humour happy laughter, promising another successful year of Sunrise Toastmasters.
