So not a great turnout for our first meeting post Lockdown.
Mask wearing is so wearying, huh. But so much better than Zooming.
This was a competition day. Our Table Topics competition.
The surprise subject that each contestant had to address was:
“If you were to give your 10 year old self advice, what would that advice be?”
So how would you have tackled that?
The best speech on the day was awarded to John Dugdale who was randomly chosen as first on the list of eight contenders.
Being in that position no other contestant heard his presentation. All contestants are sequestered in a secret chamber away from the action until their allotted moment in the sun.
Each contestant of course cannot get to hear the subject until immediately before they present as that would be unfair on earlier contestants.
To be fair, seven of the eight presented exceptionally well. The only dud accepted that he was not up to scratch on the day, and as this situation is one that all Toastmasters have at times experienced, easily understood.
Second and third placeholders were Gemma and Sean.
The judges who came from other clubs commented on the quality of speeches that Sunrise Toastmasters consistently deliver.
If you are ever interested in extending your public speaking abilities come and see what this friendly club can do for you.
