Rap performer 'Ha'penny Coleman' demonstrated her skills with vocal boom box (and the strange finger movements both up and down), before she launched into the full history of rhyme and Rap. Lucky that the history is so recent that she managed get through it in little more than 130% of her allocated time.
She was however hampered with the slow uptake by some of her pupils during the instructional segment of her presentation. It seemed to this writer that there were members of the class that just could not 'get down', and hence treated the lessons less than seriously.
Later Sean delivered a poignant and well crafted story about wandering through the streets of Galway during a lonely winter's night many years ago.
Earlier, visitor Jo Ryan presented the second of her educational speeches about the new Toastmasters programme, Pathways. We are all grateful for Jo's earlier than usual risings to deliver these messages.
Table Topics was presented as a debate between two teams of 3 with Gerard as Summariser and judge. The subject was sex education is better than sexual ignorance. Ex schoolteachers led both teams, Jill for the Affirmative and Eleanor for the Negative. Both set high standards
of humour and logic that brought continuous laughter from the audience as all the speakers made their arguments. Gerard ruled the Affirmative team the winners.
