Shimmering Sequins and Scarlet Sash

Next year, in mid August, a few selected members of the 364,000 will leave their perhaps obscure corners of the world, and along with similar migratory creatures, descend to the Grand Ole Opry, in Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States of America.

The crowd will rise in uproar and there will be much celebration.

In shimmering sequins and scarlet sash, the winner will return home triumphant.

Next year that winner could be from these very shores.

The world awaits.

Local runners up on Thursday were Victor Gamperle and Gemma Woods.

Congratulations to all contenders in this hard fought battle.
