With Zooming down to Zero, Toastmasters are again personally connecting.
Sunrise is back in the twenties this Thursday morning. Twenty-four bodies, so enough to generate a buzz, to take us into the day.
This meeting is MC’d by Terry whose fun and friendliness carry us along an edge of loose control from 7.00 to exactly 8.30
Three very different topics are presented by the main speakers.
Carol holds us in humorous anticipation while we wait for two no-show key speakers at an imaginary conference.
Chris brings an aspect of the justice system to our attention, and leading into next week's competition, James gives a pertinent rundown on what makes a humorous speech.
Table-Topics are speech subjects chosen by a rostered member that must be delivered off-the-cuff by a member of the audience.
Today’s topics cover a wide variety and are all delivered well.
Robyn is clinging to her cash as the cashless-society approaches. Plastic water bottles pique Paul. Zebra stripes lead Jordan to a brief outline of fungible tokens. Jill presents a strong ACC argument. John B pulls from his first-hand knowledge of food banks and Cam does the same around pets and a history of pet store experience. House prices are analysed by John D, while Garry brings considered opinion about arming of police.
Victor evaluates the Table Topics and Dita and Gemma bring appropriate commendations, analysis and recommendations for the other two main speakers.
General Evaluator Grant reviews the rest of the meeting which is followed by an entertaining recruitment for judges by the Area Director, Cam.
As has many times been mentioned; these meetings should make us glad to be out of bed in the early morning, giving us a buzz for the rest of the day. It seems that having weathered the Lockdown, Sunrise Toastmasters is now back on point.
